Another excellent eyelid primer, as you may know I was and still am a huge fan of the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, the only problem is this base is not cheap. It probably still is my favourite base to use just because I prefer the feel of the product and like the fact that it is clear (well white).
That however doesn’t at all take away from my love for e.l.f’s eye primer. It is tanned skin toned colour that applies creamy with a wand applicator. You only need one dip to provide enough coverage for both eyes, a little goes a long way. I usually do a few dabs on each eye lid and then blend out with my finger.
It will leave your lids with a smooth velvet like touch (the product most likely contains silicone) ready for eye shadow.
Don’t leave the primer on your naked lids for too long or it will start to crease. With shadow however it makes the colours so much more vibrant. In fact during my last photo shoot I used this on the models and the photographer commented at how amazing their eyes looked! (which is partially what convinced me that I had to write this review).
What’s great is that this can survive an entire working day without creasing your shadows (which makes it great for photo shoots and cons), I trialled this on myself for 2 weeks and every night I’d come home with my eye shadow still perfectly in tack.
It does have a very slight chemical smell (you only smell it if you sniff the applicator like me :x) but you can’t detect it at all if used normally and whilst apply to your lids.
The best part is the price, order from overseas and it’ll only set you back by $1US, or locally a mere $4.95AU. Even if you buy the product and it doesn’t work for you, it would still be worth giving it a shot. I’m absolutely loving e.l.f products lately and intend to invest many more dollars into it 🙂

I have the ELF mineral eyelid primer, I should get it out and see if I like it, I couldn’t decide before lol, this normal primer sounds really good/effective 🙂

Let me know what you think, I have the mineral version too and so far it seems just as good / the same, but I haven’t used it as extensively as the normal yet.

$1??? I need to get my hands on some ELF products lol. Any recs on what I should look for? x

I know!! Sif we ever get makeup that cheap here! You should check out the website eyeslipsface.com, they are having a 50% sale atm 😀 I’m already loading a cart up hehe.
Hmm, e.l.f’s studio brushes are really good! Lipsticks are good too and the HD definition powder. Out of the two, studio line is better than the normal line~

lucky it works for you. i really want to love this, because it’s so cheap. unfortunately, it doesn’t work for me. 🙁
Celina says
Oh no 🙁 Mine lids are probably… semi-oily? Not too oily but not dry either, are yours very oily? I’m curious to know why it wouldn’t work for you. At least it was cheap~
