If you live in Australia or spend a lot of time online in beauty (which I can only assume you do given you’re reading this blog post right now) then you’ll have heard of McoBeauty and all the controversies around them for how closely they dupe some of the biggest luxury cult favourites in the market. There is a lot of argument on both sides for this, many arguing that duping or copying the hard work from other brands is wrong. On the other hand, McoBeauty makes quality products attainable for those you could not otherwise afford it. Either way, no matter where you stand, I was curious to know how close the dupes really were so I picked a few products and decided to put them to the test.
I decided to test the following products:
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream ($100AUD) vs McoBeauty Soufflé Dream Moisturising Cream ($32AUD)
Stila One Step Correct ($60AUD) vs McoBeauty All-in-One Colour Correcting Serum ($26AUD)
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($70AUD) vs McoBeauty Flawless Glow – Luminous Skin Filter ($35AUD)
Dior Rosy Glow Blush – 001 Pink ($72AUD) vs
McoBeauty Glow Up Ph Powder Blush – Rosy Pink ($24AUD)
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution – Pillow Talk ($54AUD) vs McoBeauty Creme Matte Luxe Lipstick – Cheeky Chat ($20AUD)
Be sure to watch the video below for my detailed thoughts, but if you can’t be bothered and just want the TDLR, I found the quality with McoBeauty to be pretty comparable generally with the brands they were trying to dupe. If you can’t afford the original, you’ll be getting a product very close to its quality if you buy the dupe from McoBeauty.
