It’s the end of the month, time to go through some of the stand out / key products I’ve been using this month 🙂 Which is also the signal I use to go back into my collection and pick up some products to add to my rotation for March 🙂 If you’re new, then the whole point of this exercise is essentially “shop my stash” and figure out what products I love and will use, verses those who are just hiberating in my collection. I’ve included mini reviews / comments against each of the products listed below which I hope you’ll find useful 🙂
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
Bourjois foundations are always amazing for me, the quality rivals those from high end brands such as Chanel and Dior so it goes without saying that this foundation is pure quality for me. This is the old packaging, so it looks quite different now. Medium coverage, smells lovely and is a real joy to use 🙂
Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad – Mocha Latte *
I was given this quad for review purposes probably 4-5 years ago at the original MBBE, so it’s pretty old, but I’m not really someone who throws stuff out unless I can tell its gone bad so I’ve held on to it thanks to the top two shades which have clearly hit pan. Once I finish those two shades up I’ll probably, depot the bottom left shade which I use only on the weekends and toss the rest out! Quality is pretty good, which surprised me because I’ve always heard strange things about Avon cosmetics.
Dior Addict Lip Glow
A staple and forever product in my collection, it’s essentially a lip balm that once applied will gradually give a soft pink colour to your lips. Hydrating for the lips and stunning, I’ve almost hit pan on this so I will certainly re-purchase once I do.
NARS Powder Blush – Orgasm
Another staple in most makeup collections, I featured this in my Major Pan blog post earlier this month and it’s one of the products I am determined to finish up this year. The colour works amazingly well on my skin tone. The packaging unfortunately has a tendency to get dirty quickly, but more so mine as I spilt nail polish remover all over it once so the rubber has wrinkled a great deal.
MAC Select Sheer Loose Powder
I’ve recently taken a strange liking to loose powders, could be due to the extensive traveling I was doing earlier where everything had to be compact and travel friendly. I only use this when I’m at home and it really does make me feel at home. Emotional associations aside, I really do think, whilst slightly messy to use, loose powders give a much smoother and even finish to the face.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel – Expresso
First it was the eye brow pencils, then the clear gels, now I’ve gone down the easy route with tinted brow gels. I first experienced them at a Benefit Brow Counter, where they used the Benefit version on me! I was really impressed with the results and how idiot proof it all was (though I found the Benefit formula a bit dry). Fortunately it wasn’t long till my trip overseas, so I decided to pick one up from Anastasia and the rest is history. Better for those who have enough brow hairs, but just want them to appear a bit darker / fuller.
Lancome Grandiose Mascara
I have mixed feelings over this mascara. When I first got it, I loved it! It gave amazing volume (not so much length) and was easy to use. However the more I use it, the glooper it seems to have become, meaning it causes my lashes to all clump together. And since it’s not giving much, if any length, my lashes end up looking a bit stumpy. I usually need to go in with a lengthening mascara wand after, but before this mascara dries to help separate and neaten my lashes up. Probably won’t be picking this up again, but definitely will finish using it.
