Prepare for a pretty dramatic statement, but I thought if I said it here, with all of you reading this, then I couldn’t back out of it.
I want to perform a deep cleanse on my life
There I said it. Well typed it. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a terrible tendency to hoard things that either were not good for me or to an excess. Be that objects, people, emotions etc. And as Surfaced Studio has told me very times before, the price I pay for feeding this deep seeded insecurity I have is to be content / happy.
So, I’m going to slowly work on cleansing all aspects of my life. Note the word slowly! I’m rarely ever at home (in fact as you read this I’m likely on a plane to Sydney again) so the whole process can take a bit.
I’m not sure how well I’ll be at documenting the process on my blog, but I would like to try. And if you need some examples as to what I mean, then I refer you to my makeup / shoe / handbag collection, which as I type this does not even fit in their designated areas anymore aka I have boxes stacked up everywhere. I think I’ve really only been comfortable to have two of my closest girlfriends come over (they know who they are, and I thank them for never judging me!) to kind of half witness the mess that I call my home. It’s really very suffocating. Worse still is that I’d say 80% of what I own doesn’t get used. So I’m going to work on either using more things, or getting rid of it.
In terms of lifestyle, I want to improve my energy levels. I’m not saying I want to be healthy or incredibly fit, I just want to have enough energy to not feel completely exhausted by the end of the day. And that does come down to better eating and exercise. It’s one of Surfaced Studio’s dream to hike up to Machu Picchu, and at my current fitness level, there is no way I could make it, so that is one of my goals.
But it’s not just about energy levels, but also mental state. I want to do things I love to do because I love to do it. Whether it be a blog post, a video, an activity or well… anything! I don’t want to dedicate my life to living it the way others have told me to. 2015 is about being happy and living my life the way I want to live it.
So there you have it! A high level outline on what I’m hoping to achieve. I’d like to try and do monthly check ins to see how I’m going so I’ll need to sort that out!
But let me know if you guys have any tips on how to stay on top of things like this. My main issue has been obviously laziness, but also working long hours or often traveling for work. I find it difficult to really do much when I’m living out of a suitcase in different hotels. But any tips you could offer, I would love to hear!
P.S: The photo above is taken by me at Safety Beach at sunset. This falls into the “doing things you love” category, going for photography runs with Surfaced Studio at sunset.

Earlier this year I I made a similar choice just a short while ago, but for different reasons. I recently went through something really traumatic which made me realize I had to change a lot of things about myself. But I’ve been cleansing by getting rid of increasingly stressful, toxic, or negative things (including people). One thing that has helped me is writing in a private journal. It helps keep me on track. I also let my husband know everything about what I want to do so he keeps me on track as well – I am incredibly forgetful unfortunately lol.
I’ve also been doing other things like limiting my media exposure to only things that motivate, inspire, or teach me something new. Also recently I have been getting up 30 minutes earlier so I can do a quick meditation, which has seemed to improve my energy levels and makes me feel pretty good too.
Work takes up a huge chunk of my time so oftentimes I don’t want to bother, so I can relate.made a similar choice, but for a different reason.

Wow, thanks for those tips. I might actually take you up on some of them, particularly the meditation! I think that would help a great deal. I’m sorry for what you’ve had to experience, but glad that you’ve found different methods to help improve your life and happiness ๐ Thanks for sharing!

A happy and healthy Celina is all that I want to have! I adopted a “one in, one out” policy last year for my clothes and shoes. This really helped me cut down on the amount of clutter and stress (!!) of feeling like I had both too many things, but didn’t love enough of them. It might be a little drastic for you, but having some sort of guidelines on consuming new things might be a good start?
Or, you know, we could just run away together <3

I think I need to ensure that I have a purpose for everything I buy! Whether it be that I will blog about it or I will use it for something. I can’t just buy stuff because I think it’s pretty and I want it. That’s not a good enough justification. Having said that, I am also in the process of doing a massive clean out of everything I haven’t touched in over a year. Did all my nail polishes over the weekend, am throwing out 200 bottles! It’s a start ๐
Running away sounds good too XD <3

Woooow, yeah, I need to do that with my nail polish too. They’re only going to get gloopier, right?
