Luxury mascaras are always a bit of a mine field. Some of them are amazing, and some of them are pretty lack lustre. Given that once opened, mascaras don’t last very long, I can see why many people opt for cheaper mascaras that perform just as well if not better.
Despite knowing better, I still enjoy experimenting with luxury mascaras because you never know when you may uncover something very special (cue Lancôme Hypnose). Unfortunately today was not one of those days, I wouldn’t go so far as to call this a disappointment, though some of you -may- find it a disappointment.
When it comes to mascara, it’s a pretty good all-rounder. I do love that the formula is thick, but fluid enough that just a few strokes will get the job done pretty fast. I’m really not a fan of mascaras that require me to work for extended periods just to achieve my desired look.
That said, I can’t honestly say this mascara achieves anything spectacular. Decent length and volume, but nothing that uniquely stands out, at least not for me. However I will add that I didn’t experience any flaking, smudging or wear during the day, though I’m finding this to be more the norm for good quality mascaras than a trait so special that it is worth pointing out.
All in all, probably won’t be purchasing this again. It’s nice, but not great enough to justify the price point. However if you’re interested, you can pick one up online for $33USD.
