When it comes to “drugstore” brands, Maybelline has got to be one of my favourites, the quality for me easily rivals many luxury brands and I should know, I’m slightly obsessed with luxury cosmetics brands!
It really did feel like a match made in heaven when Maybelline sent me a rather large package that contained a multitude of beautiful products that I couldn’t wait to test out. However the very first thing that caught my eye was naturally the Volum’ Express The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara, my favourite drugstore mascara of all time!
Essentially this mascara comes with a thick wand for your upper lashes and a far thinner wand for your lower lashes. Which is perfect for me as I tend to need to always have two mascaras on the go to ensure I have something for up upper and lower lashes, so a 2 in 1 is perfect.
The best part is that the formula is essentially still the Falsies formula which I love as it never fails to volumise and lengthen my lashes without leaving me with panda eyes at the end of the day. To be honest, it’s very similar to my favourite Lancôme Hypnose Mascara in terms of quality and results, only at a fraction of the price.
However the one thing to take note of is how short the wands are since we are dealing with a two of one product. I didn’t experience any issues with the smaller wand, but the wand for the upper lashes can be slightly uncomfortable to use until you get the hang of it.
But let’s be honest, in Australia $19.95AUD for a mascara that can serve two purposes is pretty good value for money in my opinion (you are dealing with someone who has shelled out $52AUD for the Lancôme mascara). I do highly recommend you give this a shot if you have tiny lower lashes but still want to coat them. However if you’re only looking to coat your upper lashes and/or have massive lower lashes then the traditional Falsies mascara will work a treat for you.
