In the last couple of years a number of brands have released their “version” of the pressed pigment. It’s pretty much what the name suggests, pigment that has been “semi-pressed” into a pot. I say semi because if it was completely pressed you’d get what you normally find in an eye shadow pan. Here the pigment is a little looser, which allows you to pick more of it up with your applicator to achieve a… well more pigmented finish. I’ll be the first to admit that my range for adjectives isn’t the best when it comes to describing cosmetics π
I’m a big fan of Chanel’s and L’Oreal’s versions, so I was keen to try out what Dior had to offer. First thing I noticed, this swatched on the arm much better than it does when applying to the lids. I prefer to use my fingers for these types of products, though using a brush depending on the product consistency can be just as effective as it was for Dior Fusion Mono. But I feel like I waste less product when I use my fingers because I found myself swirling my brush in the pot quite a bit just to grab enough pigment.
I would say that if you want something to give you a nice fresh wash of colour, then these were great. But if you want something that’s smokey and strong, I’d look towards more traditional forms of eyeshadow or actual loose pigments. Especially due to the shimmery nature of this product, I find I get a more “shimmery wash” of soft pigmentation across my eyes than anything else. Not bad, but I don’t see myself venturing out to purchase the remaining shades.
That said, I did find Chanel to be quite a bit more pigmented than Dior, and L’Oreal even more so.
If you’re interested, you can purchase these online for $31USD a pop!
