I didn’t think it was possible to add “luxury” to lip balms, but apparently it is and it seems I’m a bit of a sucker for luxurious lip balm. I always considered La Mer and Dior to be the leaders in luxury lip balms, but I think I’ve found a new favourite, despite it actually being cheaper than La Mer (but let’s be honest, still expensive for a lip balm)
Let me introduce you to Hourglass’ N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil. Despite the name, this still feels like more of an oily gel than a true oil as it applies relatively thick to the lips.
The dispenser is a first for me, and very unique! Made from a 24 karat, anti-bacterial gold plated tip, it works with a pump, just behind the gold applicator is a piece for you to push down and dispense more product. The application feels nothing less than luxurious (I’ve used that word far too much in this post), it contours perfectly to the lips and glides on with minimal effort. It’s quite a decadent feeling, and bonus is that it keeps your fingers clean.
However, more importantly, the product itself is amazing. I prefer to use this in the evenings as I find the formula to be on the slipperier thicker end (I prefer drier formulas for the day), but you wake up with the most hydrated softest lips.
I don’t think it’s at all surprising that this is my new official favourite lip balm. Unfortunately $42USD is a steep price (I purchased this on my last trip to the USA) to pay for lip balm. I haven’t come close to finishing this yet, so depending on how long it takes will be a better indicator as to whether this was worth the price or not.
If you’re based in Australia, then you can pick this up for $58AUD at Mecca Cosmetica.
