When I first saw the Laura Mercier Enlightenment palette pop up online, I knew it had to have it. Couple my weakness of neutral shades and palettes and I pretty much fell victim to it.
This palette contains two blush shades and four eye shadow shades. The pigmentation for the eye shadows in this palette is pretty phenomenal, rich and creamy, but they do all tend to lean towards the shimmery end of the spectrum. So whether that’s your cup of tea or not is all very subjective.
I’m not 100% sure that all four shades work together amazingly well, that could be because I tend to enjoy mixing mattes with shimmer shades and deeper shades with lighter shades. But mostly because they all tend to appear lighter upon application, though darker in the pan. That said, all shades work perfectly as a simple wash of colour over the lids, so they are versatile ๐
Out of the two blushes, Blushing is probably my favourite despite it appearing so much darker than Awakening. I think because just a little bit goes a long way, I felt that I had to work with Awakening a bit more for it to appear on photos better.
Generally, I don’t think this palette is great if you’re planning to do your makeup for photos or video. All the shades feel like they lean more towards a softer look that work better in person. Not that you can’t use this palette for a photo shoot, but I can think of many other palettes that would work better / show up clearer.
All in all, it’s still a great palette! Not sure I would use it every day as during the working week I lean towards more matte shades for my eyes, but I can still see this working as an everyday palette for many people ๐
If you’re interested, you can hopefully still pick it up online for $55USD.
