You have no idea how excited I was when I saw these pop up on the Chanel website. Years ago when I first started delving into the world of makeup, Chanel’s Aqualumiere Gloss was one of the first high end glosses I ever tried and I was in love. But then soon after they discontinued the range and I was very sad 🙁 Fortunately they seem to be making a come back!
I’m going to jump straight into the quality and texture of the glosses since that is the key reason I fell in love with this line. Don’t think sticky, think silky. These glosses are incredibly silky on the lips when first applied and maintain that feeling for a good couple of hours. Over time they do become more sticky as the formula starts to dry a little, but that’s usually when I reapply if needed.
These glosses are not hydrating nor are they drying either, pretty standard in terms of hydration. I never was able to see what the entire range was like back when Chanel first introduced this line of glosses, but my experience so far is that the glosses tend to have a metallic like sheen to them with a very glossy finish. Thanks mostly to the high volume of micro shimmers within each tube.
Pigmentation is pretty standard here too, nothing too pigmented but not so sheer that you can’t tell you’re wearing a gloss. Really it’s the metallic shine that is the real attention grabber here.
Friandise is probably my favourite shade here, it’s pink, it’s sweet and just really helps dress up a look.
No surprise that I highly recommend these glosses! They are one of my favourite glosses ever created and I really hope Chanel brings out more shades!
