It’s been quite some time since I last did a TAG, and after the fabulous Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous tagged me to do the Addicted to Blush TAG I knew this was the perfect opportunity to rummage through my blush collection!
What blush colour suits you?
I’m going to go with a completely boring answer that likely most people give, but that would have to be coral. I think we all know I had a bit of a problem with coral blushes last year. I just feel the most comfortable wearing this shade, but don’t worry, I am working on branching out a bit more.
Pressed/Cream/Loose Blush?
Without a doubt it would be pressed blushes for so many reasons. As someone who is usually doing her makeup on the go, pressed blushes travel easier than loose. I find pressed powder blushes easier to apply than creams, especially since I prefer to apply powder over my foundation. And of course, given pressed blushes are so much more popular, the sheer range of them can’t be ignored 🙂
Favourite shimmery blush?
This is tough, most of my collection is made up of shimmery blushes. One of my favourites is definitely Too Faced’s Sweetheart Blushes, not only are they adorable but the pigmentation is on point and the shimmer gives a nice illusion of high cheekbones.
Favourite matte blush?
Without a doubt, Giorgio Armani’s Sheer Blush in 3, this is one of the first high end blushes I ever purchased and I love this for more smokey eye looks because the shade is more nude. I tend to use shimmery coral blushes during the week so this doesn’t get as much love as it should.
Favourite cream blush?
That would have to be Chanel’s Cream Blush. Unfortunately I don’t have many shades so I can’t speak for the entire range, but that’s because I don’t use cream blushes very often. I love how light and almost silicone like this blush feels when you apply it, because I feel safe in knowing it doesn’t drag my foundation underneath and thanks to its incredible pigmentation, a little goes a long way.
Favourite drugstore blush?
e.l.f’s Studio range! Even though I don’t think they are available in Australia. I’ve purchased all of mine online, and I think I own about 5 different shades, two which have already hit pan. I love that the packaging kind of reminds me of NARS, minus the awful rubbery texture. The quality is amazing, and for a blush that is only a few dollars, it’s completely worth it!
Favourite high end blush?
I’m guilty of almost never using this blush even though it’s amazing! But destroying the rose pattern just breaks my heart, and that would be Chantecaille’s Cheek Shade in Bliss. The quality is amazing as is the packaging 🙂 I generally have found Chantecaille cosmetics to be amazing in quality, but not so great on the wallet.
Favourite bright blush?
I don’t actually tend to use super bright blushes, I’m much more comfortable having bold colours around my eyes or lips rather than cheeks. But if I were to reach for saturated colours I’d think of MAC’s Azalea or Tom Ford’s Narcissist which is unfortunately no longer available as it was a limited edition shade. Both of these are an intense magenta shade, the tiniest amount goes the longest way so use them carefully if you ever get your hands on them!
Biggest blush disappointment
Le Metier de Beaute’s Kaleidoscope blushes! They cost a mint (usually around the $90USD mark) but the packaging is terrible. And I’m not referring to the fact that each blush expands out on its own level, I’m talking about the pans. I own two of these now and every time the pans have a tendency to fall out if I’m not careful. I’m convinced it’s because they aren’t using enough glue to keep the pans in place, but for such a high end brand where you’re paying well over $100AUD for the product, the very least they could do is ensure the pans are secure. Granted I could glue them in myself, but why should I for a blush that costs so much? I certainly don’t recommend them at all.
Best blush packaging?
Les Merveilleuses de Laduree’s Face Color Rose! It’s literally blush in the shape of rose petals. Pretty amazing! I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve had mine for well over 2 years now I still can’t bring myself to use it too frequently because I’m terrified it will break apart the petals. They are just too previous!
What’s on your blush wishlist?
Hmmmm this is really… impossible to answer because I’m kind of a makeup addict and if there is something I want I tend to buy it 🙁 But maybe I’d say more shades from Les Merveilleuses de Laduree’s Face Color Rose… even though I don’t use it much as it is, but it wouldn’t hurt to have all the shades from the collection 😀
No.1 Holy Grail blush?
I would have to say the Jill Stuart blushes, I love both their Blush Blossoms and Blush Compacts. Their quality is on point (as is most of Jill Stuart’s products), but I find especially the Blush Blossom so amazing to use. Which is surprisingly because it’s actually a loose blush (with a net over it), but I love that it allows you to contour your cheeks. Also the packaging is pretty amazing and delicate 🙂
And there you have it! All my responses 😀 If you feel like you are up to the challenge then please do this TAG and leave a link in the comments below because I would love to read what you have to say 😀
