I contemplated for a long time over this product. I’d been eyeing it for quite some time now, but the $170US price tag always got me in the end and I just couldn’t see myself spending that much on a single product. Especially one that is just a highlighter.
But when I saw the price on this drop down to $100US during a sale online (suspect it was Harrods but I can’t actually remember anymore as its been a while!) I thought, okay! It’s now or never! So I added it to cart and the rest is history 🙂
Packaging first, this is some solid packaging! It is quite heavy and definitely feels expensive. Not even close to light and cheap, but being heavy means it doesn’t work well for travel, so something to keep in mind.
It contains Guerlain’s signature rose scent, which I’ve grown to almost enjoy now. I used to hate it but after more continuous use I’ve grown more used to it and I’m really starting to associate the scent to luxury 🙂 To me it doesn’t smell like an “old ladies’ rose scent”, it feels a lot more subtle and fresh.
Pigment wise, this highlighter is very much a white pink toned based powder. It reminds me of a more subtle shimmery version of NYX’s Mosaic Powder in Highlighter. Though I find NYX’s version to be a little bit more powdery and closer to being a pure white tone instead.
The powder for Guerlain is incredibly fine and blends beautifully on the skin. It gives my cheekbones a very subtle natural glow. I love it!
But, is it worth $170US? That’s tough, because worth is completely subjective. Thus far I haven’t found a cheaper highlighter that matches Guerlain to be absolute T. I’ve found plenty that are very similar, and to most people who don’t analyse makeup to the level of detail I do probably couldn’t tell the difference.
For someone like me, I can see a difference and I can’t find any cheaper alternatives that are exactly the same. But I wouldn’t repurchase this product again because having a highlighter this perfect isn’t worth the price tag for me. I’d rather find a cheaper alternative and use the rest of the money on another makeup product.
Having said that, it is an absolutely beautiful product, I’m sure if I was worth millions of dollars I wouldn’t hesitate to constantly restock it.
If you’re interested, you can purchase this for $170US online.

Is it better than the Meterorites Perles in your opinion?

Hmmm, I feel like it’s more subtle than the loose perles, but very similar. This is better for travel (if you enjoy carrying heavy compacts), whereas the loose perles are not so great for travel.
