If you’ve just tuned in, I’ve been posting about my not so recent Topshop lipstick haul and I’ve broken the posts up based on lipstick type~ So you can read about Velvet Finish lipsticks or Velvet Finish Moisturising lipsticks first if you like. I cover how I feel about the lipsticks in general regarding scent and packaging in these posts.
But today, we’re all about the Matte lipsticks! Honestly I’ve never been a fan of matte lipsticks, I find them to be waaaay too drying! So unfortunately yes, I had no idea these lipsticks were matte at the time of order, but once they arrived I decided to just give it a go~ You never know 🙂
I purchased three shades from this range: Whimsical, a beautiful pinky coral shade that is my favourite from this range. Tease, a true bright bubblegum pink shade and All About Me, a blue toned deep magenta shade.
Surprisingly for matte lipsticks, these weren’t at all drying. They certainly weren’t moisturising at all, but if you put down a lip balm first, these were fine. When I wasn’t wearing a lip balm I did notice my lips start to feel quite dry after a few hours. Definitely not dry enough to the point of cracking, but dry enough for the lipstick to start looking a bit worn and sinking into my lip lines.
I can’t see myself actively pursuing more of these, matte lipsticks are just not my thing. I find them better for photo shoots where touching up constantly is possible, but for day to day they don’t work well for me.
On the up side, they are incredibly pigmented! So careful if you do decide to use them during the day as transfer is very possible.
If you’re interested, each lipstick is available online for £8.00.
