Oh, I’m such a sucker for pretty packaging and products! When I saw Dior’s Spring 2012 collection last year I just knew I’d be playing with these palettes soon, I just couldn’t help it! I’ve been trying to only buy collection based makeup lately so I don’t get too crazy and carried away! Anyways, Dior’s Spring 2012 collection is filled with pastels, roses and soft colours. Truly perfect for spring~
I told myself only to get one eyeshadow palette, but I just couldn’t decide which one I liked better and some how justified that the colours were soft enough for everyday wear. This is my reasoning for everything I buy “I’ll totally use that everyday!….”.
First is the Dior 5 Couleurs Garden Edition Couture Colour Eyeshadow Palette in 441 Garden Pastels, this is the most iconic palette for the collection. Filled with greens, pearls and pinks. I found the eyeshadows at least difficult to use with a brush, it wouldn’t pick up enough colour. But it worked amazingly well when I used my fingers however, which is how I applied it. The quality is amazing, soft, smooth and blends beautifully.
Not sure how wearable these colours are, though if you mix them with a few more neutral shades you could probably get away with using this everyday. For me, I could see myself using this on casual Fridays or weekends π
The next palette I picked up was Dior 5 Couleurs Garden Edition Couture Colour Eyeshadow Palette in 841 Garden Roses, which filled with purples, pinks and silvers. This is a far more wearable palette in my opinion. The quality is pretty much identical to 441 Garden Pastels, I had the same issues with my brushes so I had to apply the enough look using my fingers minus the liner. I’m wondering whether once the powder flatters out whether my brush would work better on this palette.
I’ve been wearing this palette for the last couple of days now to work, only with my normal black liner. It’s highly wearable, especially if you sheer the colours out.
Finally the lipstick, which I found incredibly wearable. It looked really dark in the tube, even the swatch seemed a bit too strong for me as I’m more a fan of soft pinks and nudes.
But as you can tell, once applied, it’s perfect! At least I like it hehe. This would work great as an everyday lipstick, and suits my complextion so well π It’s not the most moisturising formula, but it certainly wasn’t drying either. I found myself needing to re-apply it every few hours, soon if I’d just eaten.
All in all, this is a great luxury treat. I didn’t find any must have items, these are more just really nice to have now and then. Probably more often than the average bear if you run a beauty blog like mine, but I could see these working out to be great gifts for people. I purchased these online via Neiman Marcus via a mail forwarding service. The palettes were $59US each and lipstick was $32US. I have no idea how much they go for in Australia or if they even are in Australia at the moment. But I can promise you, expect to easily pay double here π

I really like the green one. I saw it on a friend, and it’s so pretty. It’s already available here, I think, for over $100 a palette. Just wondering, did you use HopShopGo for this?
Celina says
Ouch, $100 :_: Yes, I use hopshopgo π

Love the lipstick, it’s beautiful! The green palette is lovely too but I don’t like to use my fingers to apply eyeshadows, so I’ll pass..
Celina says
I love the lipstick too π

I’m not yet brave enough to rock spring colors on my eyes, so I’m not picking up anything from this collection. D: To you, the brave, I salute you!

I have a Dior lipstick and I like it a lot! Sadly it’s fuschia though, so I don’t get a lot of wear out of it. I love this shade though – it looks so beautiful on you. Is this the tulip pink?

Hello Beautiful Celina π
Im happy to have stumbled upon your informative blog. I am really loving the lipstick color from this collection (you are wearing it in the picture), if you don’t mind, may I know what is the number and name of this particular Dior lipstick? Is the color orangey peachy and frosted? I have dark/tanned skin, I really hope it suits me, I just love how feminine and fresh the color is. Thank you Celina for sharing this with me/us.
