Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener Review & Swatches

I always find myself being a little late to the bandwagon, but better late than nothing I say?

Sometime in the middle of last year I discovered the wonders of baking (your concealer that is) and became hooked on the end result! The area under my eyes no longer creased for one, but the highlighting effect was amazing~! And so began the obsession to test each and every single under eye concealer I could get my hands on.

Bobbi Brown’s Tinted Eye Brightener is not what I’d consider a concealer, and much more, as the name would suggest an under eye brightener. Think of YSL’s Touche Elcat, very similar to that. There is certainly a level of pigmentation but nothing that would give the coverage you’d expect from an actual concealer. This is something very important to keep in mind, a lot of people will purchase these products and try and use them like a concealer and be disappointed by the coverage, but they aren’t concealers!

Personally, I am loving this little gem of a product. It works great as a subtle highlighter, however I have found that it works a lot better if you are generous with your application. I remember when I first started using this and I put it on very sparingly and wasn’t achieving the level of brightness I had hoped (honestly it was almost non-existent). So you definitely will need to use a decent amount of this stuff, think drawing upside down triangles under your eyes!

If I’m going to be filming or doing a photoshoot, I love using this on top of my concealer and using a damp beauty blender to smooth it all out! Otherwise for day to day makeup, alone is perfect! And if you are really looking for that highlighted flawless result then this is the point where I’d start baking! Otherwise, dust over some face powder, you’ll still get a similar effect only a lot more subdued.

All in all, I am loving this brightener. Definitely up there in my everyday makeup rotation. I personally am using the colour Light Bisque (2).

What do you think of brighteners? Love them? Think they are pointless? Do you have any great ones you highly recommend? 😀

If you’re interested, you can pick out up for yourself for $46AUD or $32USD at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Selfridges and Neiman Marcus.
