I’ve come to realise that I’ve never given you guys any basis for my reviews, as in how do you know whether the moisturiser I’ve just raved about will work for you if you have no idea what sort of skin I have? And so I decided to compile a beauty profile 🙂 I’ll try my best to keep this as up to date as possible, probably add more detail as time goes on and link it from my profile. Feel free to use, add or modify if you find it useful for your own blogs 🙂
Type: Combination skin
Issues: Eczema, a lash glue called Lash Me is what triggered the Eczema for me many years ago and I’ve had it ever since 🙁 I will get the occasional pimple, but nothing like the way it used to be back in high school.
I have sensitive skin, as in I’m allergic to the glue on bandaids and perfume (I’ll put it on my hair or clothes if I want to use it), they give me rashes. FYI, used to be allergic to chalk, and still am very allergic to alcohol.
Routine: In the morning I’ll rinse my face with warm water and apply my moisturiser and sunscreen (usually a 2 in 1 product) all over my face. If I know I’ll be outside during the day, SPF 50+ sunscreen on my neck / arms / any exposed skin etc.
At night I’ll wash my face with a cleanser and use an exfoliating cream once a week. If I’ve exfoliated, I’ll use the cleanser a second time. After which I apply my night time moisturiser, I don’t normally use an eye cream unless I happen to have one lying around.
If I can be bothered, I’ll try a body lotion. I rarely ever use masks or serums unless I have a lot of time on my hands / can be bothered / am having particularly troubled skin. I’ll use a toner after removing heavy makeup if I’m not about to take a shower anytime soon (typically during the day)
Shade: Between NC15 and NC20 for MAC.
Type: Naturally dry and curly
Notes: My hair has never been chemically processed ever, and I cut it myself.
Routine: I wash my hair at night every 2 – 3 days, and straighten after each wash. I usually use either a standard shampoo and conditioner or if I’m lazy my 2 in 1 formula. I now and then will use heat protection serums, if I can be bothered. However for the most part when my hair is straightened, my hair is pretty soft and silky 🙂
Skin Tone: Neutral toned, choice of foundation is NC15-NC20 from MAC and Sand in Bobbi Brown.
Colours: Anything goes, but for work I’ll shoot for neutral earth tones.
Routine: At work I’ll wear an eyeliner and mascara if anything at all, I often go makeup free during the week if I know I’ll just be in the office. I’ll usually wear any product I’m currently testing out for review as well.
If I’m going out, I’ll use a foundation, blush and eye shadow and maybe a lip gloss or lipstick.
Stuff like bronzers, highlighters, powders etc are usually only used for photo shoots, book of fables or if I’ve got a lot of time before I head out.
